The day after my birthday I drove the long, boring trek to California to visit my family and to be there to support two of my best friends from high school. Shira's wedding was on Tuesday, June 2nd, and Casey's bridal shower was the following Saturday.
The first morning there was spent with Jen and the kids. Anna and Evan grow so much everytime I visit! Look how big she is! I hate that their Auntie Summer lives so far away even though I am so lucky that I've been able to see them so much this year.
Since my parents have been having car troubles, Casey came over for breakfast and to pick me up to hang out, shop, and to get pretty for the wedding that night.
Jen is so grossed out by this but Anna LOVES to be in the garden with mom and she picks out all of the worms in the compost and shows them off to everyone. She must take after me because creepy, slimy things don't bother me in the least. When I was a kid I'd help mom's garden by drowing all of the "bad" bugs that eat her flowers and plants. Poor things...

I love this chunker! He gets more delectable every trip! I just want to eat his chubby cheeks! Man, he is so heavy though that I cannot hold him without using both of my arms, and I'm not even exaggerating... I'm missing these ones so much. Only 1 more month to go until Casey's wedding and both Tyler and I will be there. I can't wait!
27 years old. Yikes. I can't believe I'll be thirty in three short years. It's crazy how quickly time passes by, especially when I haven't done all the things I thought I was going to do by this age. Sometimes I wish I could rewind time and start all over. Maybe I would've stayed younger for a little while longer, danced on a cruise ship, gone on a study abroad, worked less, traveled more, trained for SYTYCD, stuck with getting into nursing or PA school-ugh...oh well!
I did have a great birthday BBQ though at the Bruford's with yummy brisket and lots of good company. The weather was cooperating that day and was absolutely perfect.

...my new love, obsession, hobby...whatever you want to call it, but I've found something amazing. Even if I never make a dime modeling again (I say that now...), I'd be happy. I don't think I've enjoyed myself more than this past weekend. I did a shoot on Friday for Board Bunnie's new catalogue and website, and a shoot on Sat for J T Photography which will be a great addition to my shabby outdated portfolio.
Its harder work than it looks. I'm sore from some of the poses (sad to admit...but I haven't seen the gym in awhile), covered in bug bites head to toe, have a huge spider bite on my right arm and came out a few pounds lighter from the unintentional skipping of lunch and dinner while at the shoot.
So much goes into making a decent photo and even more so to give it the title "Art." My head is still spinning from all the information I tried to take in about lighting and lenses. Wow. I have just barely skimmed the surface of the industry in Utah and am amazed at what talented photographers reside here. I already have a photog crush on a handful of people that I would give my right arm to work with. I am most interested at the moment by whimsical high fashion hair and makeup...it really is incredible the ideas that these people come up with! Crossing my fingers I'll be able to take part in some of those shoots one of these days.

This is the first photo I've seen and am getting anxious to get the rest back. Jim was great. So patient and willing to answer all the photography and lighting questions I had. It was a really wonderful learning experience.
A few things I learned from this shoot:
1.) Modeling and dancing don't always go hand in hand
2.) Poses that feel great may not look so great on camera
3.) The camera really does add pounds. 5 to each one of my arms...
4.) Natural is always better.
5.) Accept that sometimes the first shot is the best-don't beat a dead horse and keep trying for better
6.) Bring food and a MIRROR....I really can't believe I forgot that one.
& the biggie:
7.) Keep track of the time and don't forget to call the husband to let him know I wasn't kidnapped, raped, or both.
On Memorial Day Ty and were finally able to go 4-wheeling for my first time. It was AMAZING! Nick-Ty's dad was nice enough to drive us up and drop us off with his truck and trailer. I literally froze my butt off (def looking forward to warmer days up here), but it was well worth it. There is nothing better than being out in nature and the wind on your face. I was hoping we would see some huge animal, but we weren't that lucky.
We first stopped for the gorgeous photo op overlooking all of Utah Lake and the Provo Valley. 
I was able to drive the entire way back from our 18 mile adventure-Whoooooohoooooooo!
I have to admit I have no idea who that guy is in the silly scooter helmet...no beard and Tyler looks like a completely different person to me! I don't know what it is (maybe I don't like him looking like a little boy)-but he is so hot with his scruff!

We had a time limit for dinner and it was getting cold and dark, but we just "had" to see what was around the next corner, and the next...it was so beautiful and the landscape kept changing with every bend. The trail stretches on all the way to Springville so we want to do an all dayer next time. What a great day!No blogging for two weeks starts to weight pretty heavily, especially with special events filled with lots of pictures. I can't slack because I've been trying to be consistent for my blog book/journal that I'm going to make. But sometimes it's so much easier to post about other things...yes, I'm a procrastinator.
I finally found Blurb/Booksmart, a way for me to print a blog book at the end of each year. So instead of scrapbooking and spending way too much money on a hobby I just am not going to get any better at, I have this to curve my artsy appetite as well as having a professional book that will be perfect for my posterity someday. It's pretty cool and relatively inexpensive in comparison.

Do you know anyone that wants a baby carrier? It's just like the one I use all the time but you can't buy this one anymore because the company of the carrier that I have was going to sue this company for making a product for being too similar. Tyler actually likes this one better but I use the other one and have kept this one pretty much in the box. I don't need this one and have listed it several places to sell. I thought I'd ask you too, since your're out here. Just in case if you know someone... I bought it for $140 and would like to sell it for $100.
I feel like I always jinx myself in every situation. When speaking of death, dying, and babies birdies, little did I know that a few days after my last post, I found baby bird parts, mommy feathers, and other unmentionables on our front porch. Yuck...I still get a bad feeling just thinking about it.
We have no idea who did it, and it was NOT my kitties or Zooley (Ty's parent's cat we are sitting while the Parade is going on). Do big birds like Falcons or hawks eat other birds? I really don't know, but that really was crappy. Our whole house was excited to watch them grow up...
Jason found the last baby stuck behind the wreath and placed it back into the nest, hoping that the mom coming back would be a possibility. Seth was even considering mushing up worms and having us feed it, but he didn't live long enough for us to really think about it. Sad day...nature is so awesome and so harsh at the same time. I'm just glad I didn't become a Vet--my heart couldn't take all the sadness!
Our first baby hatched a couple days ago and two more have come to join him/her. He looks like a little alien but I still think it's so cute! They respond to voices and stretch their tiny necks to get fed when they hear us. One looks a sickly yellow color so hope we don't have to witness any death or dying around here, and that the teeny thing pulls through.
Nature is so incredible. Or I should say God is so incredible for what wonderful and beautiful things he has created. When we get any tv time we're watching the Planet Earth series (Ty is shut up in our room watching right now.) It is the most fantastic show. I have a hard time watching some parts, like when the walruses stabbed the polar bear and it just laid down to starve and die because it wasn't capable of obtaining food for himself. Ughhhhh-just terrible...but watching is still worth going through those painful parts. One photographer waited (and hid in one place mind you) for I think around 8 weeks to get the first ever footage of the bird of paradise. Wow.
k...now I need to stop blogging to go watch!
Last week Eric & Hailey hosted Leslie's 28th birthday at their home. As always, Hailey did an amazing job with the food and decorations. Eric was even surprised at the homemade desserts-they looked like she paid a fortune for them and am still craving and needing the recipe for the yummy little cakes. I tried to take notes to file them in the back of my mind so I can eventually learn how to throw parties like she does. I'm definitely be
hind in that department.
hind in that department. It also was the Idol finale. I was rooting for Adam...he gives both Tyler and I chills when he sings. I have only heard the rumors of him being gay and the videos floating around but I still think he is an incredibly talented person who is going to be successful either way. Still happy. Kris is great too and I love how humble he is.

The Shergills (Leslie & Jimmy) are going to be moving right down the street from us pretty soon. Walking distance. I'm so excited and can't wait for them to get settled!
I've been searching high and low for what I thought was a simple item. Recipe cards. I've been to Walmart, Michael's, Jo-Ann's and found nada. Really? Do people not use these anymore? I've been putting off organizing my cookbook because for #1-I hate my handwriting, #2-I don't want to use lame, boring index cards, and #3-It takes me forever to write them out.
I found smilebox today and it definitely made me smile. Not so much about the $5.99 monthly membership but am going to check out their 14 day free trial. You can make recipe cards like the one I made below and also add pictures and text to personalize it along with making invitations and cards for different occasions. I think I've found a fun tool to help get myself organized!

We're breaking out our passports and sailing the caribbean in September with Olane & Rocky and Chris & Sangvane. I'm especially excited because we're adding 2 countries to our list of travels, Belize and Honduras. ( 3 for me w/Grand Cayman) I just finished booking everything this week and can barely contain myself I'm so excited. It's my third cruise and Tyler's first--he's going to love it. Cruising is my favorite way to vacation. Only once to unpack, all you can eat food to die for, fun entertainment, and traveling to different destinations while you sleep...what more to ask for?
We're just crossing our fingers and praying that hurricanes stays far away from us since we're going going during prime hurricane season...
