VA Pro Christmas Party

Posted by Summer

The weekend before Christmas was packed with work parties, a baptism, and a new look for Tyler. I love running my fingers through his curly ringlets...but when chopped off they are no where to be found! He received many compliments...even a comparison to James Bond-heehee. He looked quite handsome, and we had a wonderful evening riding in our Hummer limo to LaCaille. It was my first time ever and I have to say it was really special. Beautiful and romantic....but I don't think it would have been as spectacular without Hailey's usual touch.

Crystals hung from the surrounding trees and chandeliers and fresh flower centerpieces adorned the tables. It was gorgeous! Thanks Flagship for a great party!

{too bad this one isn't in focus...but you get the gist. hysterical...}

Pho & another party

Posted by Summer

If you haven't experienced Pho (pronounced fuhhh not fo) yet, get yourself to the nearest hole in the wall Vietnamese place. It compares to homemade chicken noodle soup with fresh basil & sprouts. If you like sweet/spicy like me-I add sugar.

No one makes Pho like Olane's mom but the place in Orem on State comes mighty close.

It's one of the best ways to feed and clear up a cold. We met Tyler's parents who were babysitting our niece and nephew and after went to their ward party for all sorts of pies...thanks for the invite guys!

{typical Lance face. Huh??}

In 3D

Posted by Summer

A lot of people have mixed feelings about movies in 3D...but I am a huge fan. We saw a Christmas Carol with Leslie and Jimmy a couple weeks ago and it was the coolest thing I've seen since Captain EO at Disneyland.

Yes, I'll admit I got distracted as the effects made oohs and aahs come out of my mouth--but it was well worth the extra money. Very cool and I'm so looking forward to seeing Avatar now!

Pilgrim's Landing

Posted by Summer

Most of the pictures we've been taking in the last few weeks have been more bad than good...Here's just a few that actually turned out at our ward Christmas party. It was catered by Apple Spice Junction-used to be one of my favorite work eats at GPS- and Santa was a good sport and even let me have a candy cane! We sat with Alex and his parents-he is in our CTR 5B class and Tyler and his dad both served their missions in Montreal together. No surprise there. He's always knowing someone wherever he goes.

Christmas Reflections

Posted by lebruf

It's about time I took the time to write something on this here blog.

This year's Christmas was nothing short of wonderful. It was my first Christmas with my wife, and her first with our family. Unfortunately we were short Amanda, Ben & Ethan, as well as Trevor and his family, but it was great just to have Natalie fly in from the East Coast. She apparently had to take some extensive time and planning just to get out here since the biggest storm in years was hitting DC just before she was scheduled to fly out.

I've go so much to be thankful for: an amazing family with loving parents who've led by their honorable examples, great siblings who make life much richer than it would've been otherwise, and an amazing spouse who is never short on love and a zest for life. I still can't believe how lucky I am, and it was wonderful to hear my parents express the same sentiments when they said that Summer was the best Christmas present our family could ask for.

Anyhow... enough of the sentimental stuff. We've been having a ball with the various toys we've managed to acquire over the course of the holiday. Admittedly, Summer and I are not very good at delaying gratification so we ended up giving each other 1/2 of our presents before Christmas. The Canon 7D has been a ton of fun to play with. I'll post some pictures here, but I'm thinking it's maybe time that we build a separate photo blog site since I'd hate to flood this page with nothing but pictures. However, I will mention that it's tough to not take amazing shots with this camera! There are so many shots I'm pretty proud of taking, even though I know it's probably 95% the camera compensating for my inexperience.

I also got summer a touchscreen PC for our Kitchen. It's very similar to the iPhone screen in that you can zoom, use multi-touch, and easily navigate without the mouse or keyboard. The only reason I got it was because it was super cheap. We found it for only $599, when it normally retails for about $1,250.

The whole thing is wrapped up in the back of the monitor along with a 500 GB hard drive, 4 GB RAM, a decent webcam, and a built in Wireless N card. It came with Windows 7, which is leaps and bounds better than any other previous Window's version. So yes, it's a wanna-be iMac, but this puppy has a much better sound system, a touchscreen, and it came for about 1/2 the price. We watched Emmet Otter's Christmas Special last night on this (6 of us on 2 couches) since I didn't have it in DVD format to play.

I haven't seen this in 15 years. Anyone remember seeing it? (It was only on HBO, so in our family, that meant HBO had to be in the free preview mode if we were lucky enough to catch it)

I had no idea that this was done in 1977 (about a week after I was born). The outtakes are HILARIOUS!

Worst timing ever

Posted by Summer

Hi friends...my phone was stolen/lost last night. My precious iPhone is currently laying broken or frozen in the gutter in West Jordan, or was stolen by some creepy guy who was following me in Ross. Either way, it's gone and it's been a lousy 24 hours. It's sad that a material item can matter so much, but it has saved me on numberous occasions- ie: more times than I can count.

Hopefully I'll have a new one by tonight or tomorrow, but that's why I haven't been returning calls or texts-and please do me the favor of emailing me your contact info to summert07@gmail.com....I'd really appreciate it and it'll save me loads of time.

Happy late Thanksgiving!

Posted by Summer

Much to be thankful for...family, friends, yummy food, the gospel, and the love of my life! We had a wonderful day but really missed those who couldn't be with us. You know who you are...

{sideways pic the sides I made and my all time favs--yam souffle, green bean casserole and cheesy potatoes.}
