Vegas! Day one.

Posted by Summer

Our trip started out on the wrong foot...lost keys, other keys locked in the car, mad dash to pack, accident on the freeway with some traffic, and then a full on sprint to catch our plane. We were the second to last ones on and just barely made it with 5 minutes to spare. Hot, sweaty, and completely out of shape/out of breath, I had to sit in between two people not my husband, AND I had to sit in the very last row (the ones that don't recline). If I were to judge our trip from that moment I would have gone back home.
But...
It was the most fun I have had in a loooooong time. I don't think I've ever really hung out in Vegas other than with my parents years ago or a 1 nighter on the way to Cali. Everyone has this "Evil" picture of Vegas in their mind, (myself included), but really, if done right it can be an amazing family/couple vacation.

A huge thanks to Tyler's boss-Eric and Hailey for suggesting and planning our weekend. (Also for getting my frugal husband to expand his mind and his wallet. It was all worth it!:)

{Limo ride to our hotel-I cant remember the last time I've been in one!}

We stayed at the Trump...and boy were we impressed. Our suite was huge and we loved how it was strictly a hotel-no casinos. I HATE the smell of smoke so it was nice-although I may have preferred it over the INTENSE gardenia perfume smell. It made me nauseous every time we walked through the revolving front doors. YUCK!

After getting cleaned up a bit we had dinner at Alize, the very top of the Palms.
The food was divine. So the memory of our evening doesn't fade...our picks off the menu:

Prime Beef Carpaccio with Summer Truffle
Truffled Egg Emulsion, Pickled Jicama Salad and Snow Peas

Braised Rabbit Ravioli
Toasted Pine Nuts, Ramps, Sweet Carrot Salad, Citrus Truffle Oil and Carrot Purée

Classic French Onion Soup au Gratin

Maine Lobster and Tomato Bisque
Crispy Puff Pastry

Sautéed Veal Tenderloin with Braised Veal Shank
Truffled Pistachio Croustilliant, Sautéed Broccolini, Roasted Garlic and Polenta
Pinot Noir Sauce

Filet Mignon à la Rossini
Seared Duck Foie Gras, Parsley Root, Baby Corn, Plum Confiture and Potato Croquette
Armagnac-Truffle Sauce

& my favorite of the evening:

Chocolate Soufflé
